Bayer donates one million in cash and products to help affected farmers rebuild greenhouses for winter vegetables
2 Nov. – Bayer donates to China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation RMB 1 million in cash and crop protection products of RMB 75,000 to help farmers in Shouguang, Shandong province rebuild greenhouses for the upcoming winter vegetable production.
Affected farmers in Tianliu County, Shouguang, Shandong Province collect Bayer donated products
On 17 August, Typhoon Rumbia landed in Shanghai and brought serious impacts to many provinces ever since. Shandong Province is one of those suffered most impacts. According to reports by 20 August, 401,900 hectares of agriculture area in Shandong were affected, among which 24,400 hectares saw complete loss of harvest. The overall economic damage valued around 5.62 billion RMB in the province, including 3.3 billion in agriculture.
Currently in the season of winter vegetable production, this donation of RMB 1 million in cash and crop protection product Antracol® worth of RMB 75,000 can directly support affected farmers in Tianliu County, Shouguang, to rebuild greenhouses and resume winter production soon. Antracol®, a protective fungicide, protects crops in adverse conditions from fungi infection and ensures the health of crops. Antracol® is registered on a variety of crops, such as rice, corn, tomato, cucumber, sweet pepper etc. Bayer also plans to provide volunteer services for about 500 hours in 2 years, on technical support and social care in the area.
